The do’s and don’ts of Medicinal Cannabis
Prescribed medicinal cannabis is allowed at festivals when it’s prescribed to you. Here are some of the do’s and don’ts when bringing it to Splore.
We’ve teamed up with CannaPlus+ to make the process straightforward and stress free; from travelling with your medication to managing it responsibly once you arrive. This guide covers how to prepare for gate checks and look after your medication during the festival and beyond.
“‘CannaPlus+ is a doctor-led medicinal cannabis clinic and dispensary supporting patients across Aotearoa to access legal, prescription-only products through clinically supervised care. As a Splore partner, we support informed, stigma-free conversations about health and wellbeing, helping people look after themselves and each other so they can enjoy the moments that matter.’”

Responsible medication management
Summer festivals can add extra variables like heat, long days, and disrupted sleep:
Use only as prescribed and do not share your medication
Hydrate, eat regularly, and pace yourself in the heat
Be cautious if alcohol has previously increased side effects for you
If you feel unwell or overly sedated, seek assistance early from festival staff or onsite medical support
Storage and camping safety:
Store medication away from heat and direct sun
Keep it secure and out of sight when not in use
Keep it out of reach of children and other campers
Use a simple routine so you do not accidentally double-dose
Medication and Splore Zero Waste
To support Splore’s Zero Waste kaupapa, CannaPlus+ will provide medical waste bins onsite so guests can dispose of medication-related waste responsibly and help send as little waste to landfill as possible.
Use these bins for items like empty medication containers or used dosing items. Do not leave medication waste in campgrounds or general rubbish bins.
