Host and founder of one of George FM’s longest running radio shows: THE DOSE (2-4pm Sundays) Selecta Sam celebrates the catalysts of contemporary dance music.
Digging deep in the crates for the finest Funk, Soul, Disco, Boogie & Rare Grooves.
A regular DJ in clubs & bars and radio host in Auckland City since 1997 (bFM’s ‘The Main Ingredient’ ’97-2002, George FM 2004-Present). When he’s not behind the turntables, you’ll find him in front of a stack of amplifiers playing lead guitar in Kiwi Rock monsters Luger Boa & The Defendants. Sam eats, sleeps & breathes music and has opened for a variety of international and local acts including: The Kings Of Leon, Meatloaf, Shihad, The Charlatans, Airbourne , Moodyman, Head Like A Hole & The Living End.
Having grown up around his family’s record collection, Sam was immersed in the sounds of Soul, Jazz, Funk & Rock n Roll from a tender age. The sample-heavy sounds of Public Enemy, De La Soul, Eric B & Rakim etc triggered Sam’s vinyl addiction and lust for collecting at the tender age of 12 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Sam is now the owner of one of the largest collections of Funk, Soul, Boogie, Disco & Jazz records in the country.
