A huge Pohutukawa is inspiration and canvas, Wonder Tree has materialized as open a space for celebration, relaxation, contemplation, rest and play. This installation is a tropical disco oasis, colliding shiny decorations with soft resting places.
Karen Sewell is an Auckland based artist who works in multimedia, specializing in installation art. She aims to create provocations that question and critique the empty promises inherent within consumer culture and to promote the flourishing of people and the natural world. Sewell is an award winning artist who graduated with an MFA(Hons) in 2016. Her work is held in private and public collections including The Wallace Arts Trust.
