Jason Eli held a four year residency at Ministry of Sound alongside DJ Harvey, Justin Berkmann (the founder of MoS) and Bert Bevan’s when the Ministry was at the cutting edge of underground house music. He's rocked crowds and toured with legends like the godfather of house - the late Frankie Knuckles, techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson, ex Studio 54 resident Kenny Carpenter, Masters at Work, Norman Jay and many more. Moving on from Ministry of Sound, Jason widened his sets to include more latin flavours, disco and live instrumentation. His next regular influential club night was “Swaraj”, based in London’s Blue Note club - one of the first events in the world to blend Indian music with the exploding dance culture of the time.

Over the years, he has continued to refuse to be boxed into one club music style and developed his own brand of up-tempo, percussive, soulful DJ sets that draw on both the classic (soul, disco, Latin) and the new (House, UK Garage, Drum & Bass, Broken Beat). He often brings his own live keyboard playing to the party to add some extra creativity and energy to his sets, as well as often featuring amazing live singer's, MC's and musicians. His recent set at Splore festival featured MC Earl Gateshead and vocalist Sharlene Hector (Basement Jaxx). Jason has his own label called Groovadelica.

This year Jason will be joined with MC, Justin 'JC' Cunningham aka, MC Word Perfect who has been working on this 'rap thang' for a while. Since 1987 he has been getting loose freestyling, performing, recording and building his craft. He is the current back to back Auckland freestyle champion and is part of the Freestyle Supergroup 'Galactus' (King Kapisi, Mista Ed, DJ Scissorhands)

He has performed at many large festivals including the NZ Hiphop Summit, Big Day Out, X-Air, Rocksteady Crew Anniversary and has performed around the world in the UK, Australia, the US, and Germany. He has worked with many artists including King Kapisi, Mareko, P-Money, Nomad, Antsman, Dub Asylum, Finsta Bundy (US) and of course Jason Eli.

He brings a cultured move the crowd approach to the mic and makes sure the partay gets live! Bring your smiles and a funky posterior when Word Perfects in the area.
