Tapapakanga is easy to find and sits nestled on the Firth of Thames and at the base of the Hunua Ranges. It is a stunning park with a safe swimming beach, sparkling waters and views over to the Coromandel and Hauraki Gulf Islands. Gates open 12pm on Friday the 8th.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR WELL-BEING AT SPLORE 08
Splore Management has taken all precautions to create a safe and hazard free festival site. However while all care has been taken, festival attendees are responsible for their own health and safety.
GATES OPEN: 12pm Friday - music programme starts 5pm
WAAHI TAPU AREAS: The Tapapakanga Park is steeped in significant archaeological sites that have been identified by signage. Please respect this as these are important records of history and are protected by law. Do not enter waahi tapu areas
PETS AND GLASS: No glass or pets allowed on site. Do not bring alcohol or glass on site as vehicles will be searched on arrival and found items confiscated.
WATER: Drink lots of water, keep yourself protected from the sun and elements. There are 650ml bottles of Good water for the very reasonable price of $3 available onsite from non-alcoholic drink stations, bars and selected vendors.
CAMPING:
Family Camping – this space is ideal for families and kids to have peace and quiet at all times. If you wish to camp in the Family Camping area please inform staff at onsite Ticket Office to receive your family camping pass to this area.
Mobile homes, campers, house buses and caravans have been designated to a certain area - if you want to put a tent up next to you campervan for example you must stay in this allocated area. No mobile homes, caravans etc will be permitted in general camping or family camping area.
No vehicles will be allowed in the camping areas. It is only a very short walk between parking and the camping areas.
No access into camping areas until midday Fri 8th.
No camping next to cars - there is limited camping and parking spaces so please use space efficiently and camp in the camping area and park in the parking area as directed by Splore security and staff.
KEEP AN EYE OUT: for friends and fellow festival goers. If someone looks like they are distressed or need help please contact a Splore Crew member immediately (identified by the brown and orange Crew T'shirts and Crew lanyards).
ST JOHNS: are situated at the main entrance into lower festival site and will be on call 24 hours
SURF LIFESAVING GUARDS: will be patrolling the beach daily from 10am until dusk. After dusk we recommend you do not consider swimming, however the Splore security team will be patrolling beach and taking all precautions to discourage night swimming.
WASTE: Please use rubbish facilities provided and recycle your waste. When leaving your campsite, take your rubbish home and LEAVE NO TRACE.
TOILETS: Splore 08 we have doubled the numbers of toilets, which will be cleaned and monitored consistently over the festival weekend.
ALCOHOL: Served in restricted areas only. There are three bars for an excellent range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages - open midday - 3am. No glass allowed outside of these areas. Have ID (drivers license, passport or hospitality card) ready on arrival at Ticket Station where the appropriate coloured wristband will be issued.
A non-alcoholic drinks station will serve Good Water (650ml for only $3) Benger fruit juice($4), Red Bull ($4) and slushies($3)> This will operate daily 24/7

NO FIRES: there is a total fireban in the region at present - this includes fire poi's and toys unless included in a choreographed performance. Gas cookers permitted but no open fires
LOST CHILDREN: should be brought to Merchandise/Volunteer HQ/Lost & Found. We encourage parents to write a cell ph no on your childs arm with a permanent marker in case of incident.

NO CIGARETTES: will be for sale on Splore site. Film Canisters will be issued at the front gate for your butts and gum disposal. We encourage a smokefree policy particularly in crowded areas like dance floors and bars - consideration to others is gratefully accepted and expected.
ARRIVING BY BOAT: Security and Splore staff are monitoring the beach for people arriving by boat. Enter the bay between the flags and have your ticket ready to recieve your wristband. No ticket - No Entry. Ahoy skippers please keep in mind that Tapapakanga Beach is not an ideal mooring beach if winds are coming in from the East, North East or South East. A large swell is forecast making landing difficult.
SPLORE SHUTTLE: A beautiful red fire engine will be tranporting you between the campground and beach from 3pm -10pm Fri, 10am-10pm Sat and 10am - 5pm Sun.
WEATHER FORECAST: It's looking all fantastic for a beautiful sunny weekend - dont' forget your togs, sunblock, sunhat and sunnies for a splendid weekend of sunshine!

Where is Splore
The site for Splore 08 is Tapapakanga Park, 72 km south east of Auckland on the Firth of Thames. Tapapakanga is a beautiful spot with safe swimming beaches. The main stage will be set up right next to the beach.
The park takes you back to the world of the early settlers with its isolated beach-front homestead and pohutukawa fringed coast.
Rolling farmland, forested river valleys and expansive coastal views are a feature of this 167 hectare park. Large spreading pohutukawa are a beautiful feature of the park's coastline.
