Produced and choreographed by dancer Lara Liew and actor/comedian Tom Sainsbury, D.I.S.C.O is hilarious, raunchy and ridiculous, with a wholly recognisable typecast of characters. Based on the 1979 World Disco Championships, the show parodies classic plotlines of the era. Ruthless competitiveness, thwarted love, substance abuse, ludicrous underdog heart-warmers and dashed disco dreams are all here, along with an irresistible sing-and-dance-along 70s soundtrack.
With more hits than a Solid Gold '79 album, D.i.s.c.o is a bit like a pair of fluro-leggings - bright and eye-catching, maybe doesn't cover as much as it should, but pure entertainment. Nothing more and certainly nothing less. (NZHerald)
