Butterfly Zoo
Lavishly designed as a1930’s Shanghai jazz/cabaret club, Butterfly Zoo invites you to become Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong in ‘Shanghai Express’ or Tang Wei and Tony Leung in Ang Lee’s ‘Lust Caution’. In a city where war and revolution were unable to repress glamour, the glitz of Hollywood’s golden age draped satin arms around sultry-eyed Chinese starlets and European ladies and gentlemen crossed social and political lines. Dress to express yourself for exclusive entry to the most gorgeously dangerous and risque twisted-cabaret club of the era…
Hosted by our lounge lizard, Monsieur B Savage [who is this dashing and mysterious Master of Ceremonies?], let him whisk you away from the world outside and present to you an exotic array of dancing girls, cabaret, chinese fan dancers, burlesque opera, fire breathing aerialsits and freaks of nature. Let Lili La Scala, The VaVaVooms and the tortuous Passion of Pascal among other rare creatures astound and seduce your senses..
This sumptuous and decadent, visual and aural feast is headlined by London’s neo-burlesque, internationally infamous and critically acclaimed Empress Stah, the beautifully dark side Dita von Teese never knew she had…Your evening of indulgence will be sweetly strung together by the 5-piece French-inspired jazz quintet starring the divine Miss Tui…
A Word of Caution
Ladies, to those of you gentle women of a more delicate nature, some of the acts you will see here tonight may result in fits of fainting, hysteria and ecstasy. European ladies may be particularly predisposed to such reactions, and would be advised to retire early. Gentlemen, to our distinguished gentlemen clientele - we ask that you behave appropriately towards our exquisite female performers. Any crude or louche behaviour will result in immediate exile to the outer provinces.
